OH. MY. GOD. That was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a fantastically amazing adaptation of the book (apart from the end, but I won't spoil it for anyone), and Dakota was awesome as Lyra, and Daniel Craig was BRILLIANT as Lord Asriel (even though he was only in it about twenty minutes total) and Sam Elliott was amazing as Lee Scoresby, and Ian McKellen was awesome as Iorek's voice and Freddie Highmore as the voice of Pan, and...oh, man. That rocked. And there was a trailer for Inkheart in front of it and it looks FANTASTICALLY AMAZING!!! AHHHH!!!! Okay. That was amazing. I have had a countdown on my computer since November of 2006! And in the last two weeks, I've been like, "Oh my God, ten days!" "Oh my God, three days!" and "Oh my God, The Golden Compass tomorrow!" and it was AWESOME!!! Oh Lord...wow.

Yay I finally saw it!!!! Obviously I was disappointed, but I guess it was alright. I probs wouuld've liked it more had I not read the book.
Anyway, I went to the second showing of the first day of its release here in Aus, and the cinema was nearly full. I was a bit surprised.
BUT I DID NOT LIKE THE "FUNNY" BITS!!!!!!!!! They weren't funny... at all. Rather cringeworthy, to tell the truth. And it jumped a lot. They didn't really develop the relationships between characters enough. That's what I think, anyway.
The bear fight was awesome though!! You should've heard the noises people made when Iorek hit Ragnar's jaw off!
Anyways, my opinion: alright movie, bit corny at times, good casting (except for Ian MacKellan), great special effects, AWFUL credits song.
