Name of book: InkSpell Author: Cornelia Funke Blurb: (Of the back!) Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of the extraordinary events of Inkheart and the story whose characters strode out of the pages and changed her life forever. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater, torn from his world or words, the need to return had become desperate. When he finds a crooked story-teller with the magical ability to read him back, he sets in motion a dangerous reversal that sees the characters of Inkheart transported to a charmed Inkworld about to be fought over by rival rebels and princes. Rating: (Out of 5) 3 What you thought: Inkspell didn't grab me as much as Inkheart did, and I didn't really enjoy it as much! Inkheart still remains the best, and lets just hope that Inkdrawn will be better! Other:

i'm participating! but not as many people go on the boards anymore.
[bName of book: The Princess Academy Author: Shannon Hale Blurb (making up my own: Miri set on working in the quarry, but her stubborn father won't allow it. Miri thought she was stuck tending to the goats. but then a crier from the castle states that all the girls from Mount Eskel between 12-18 must go to an academy to learn the ways of court, and one of them would become the prince's next bride, as it was fortold by the astronomers. All Miri wants is to work in the quarry, but she is forced to attend the academy. as the year wares on Miri learns more about herself and an amazing power that she did not know her people had.... Rating: 3 What you thought: there really wasn't a very good antagonist, and he was only there for a little while. you did not think "why are you so evil?" you think more "Why are you so stupid?" he doesn't make you quake in your seat and if you met him you wouldn't care. there weren't a lot of characters that stood out aside from Miri and Peder. overall it was an OK book that i thought was good until it got to the supposed "turning point" in the book.[/b][/b]

Name of book: The Manny Files Author: Christian Burch Blurb: "Be interesting." That's what the manny [man nanny] tells Keats Dalinger the first time he packs Keats' school lunch, but for Keats that's not always the easiest thing to do. Even though he's the only boy at home, it always feels like no one remembers him. His sisters are everywhere! School isn't much better. There, he's the shortest kid in the entire grade. But the manny is the Dalingers' new babysitter and things are starting to look up. It seems as though the manny always knows the right thing to do. Not everyone likes the manny as much as Keats does, however. His older sister Lulu finds the manny embarrassing, and she's started to make a list of all the crazy things that he does, like serenading the kids with "La Cucaracha" from the front yard or wearing underwear on his head or meeting the school bus dressed as a limo driver. Keats is scared. What if Lulu's "Manny Files" makes his parents fire the manny? Who will teach him how to be interesting then? Rating: 5/5 What you thought: This book is SO cute! Other: Please read this book because it took me five minutes to type that! ;D

goodness Kate, you read quite a bit!
Name of Book: My Sister's Keeper Author: Jodi Picoult Blurb(my own): Anna was born so she coould save her sister Kate's life. They needed her blood to transfer to Kate who was diagnosed nine monthes earlier with leukimia. It started out with Anna just needing to donate the blood when she was only half-an-hour old when she really didn't care. Then it was bone-marrow or any other number of things to keep Kate alive. Anna can never leave home, never go to summercamp and never to college(if Kate survives until then) in case Kate needs an immediate transplant. But now Anna's "asked" to donate a kidney, and it's too much. She goes to lawyer and asks to sue her parents for the right to her body. Without the kidney, however, Kate will die. This story is written from all the main character's points of view, except Kate, and each character has secrets of their own, from Anna's druggie brother to the lawyer with a guard dog for no reason anyone knows of, and Anna herself, who can't admit the truth of what she's doing. Rating(out of five): 5 Thoughts: I love this book. Only two books in my whole life have made me cry, the fifth Harry Potter and this. A beautiful story, it's only drawback being the depressing ending.

Name of book: A Great and Terrible Beauty Author: Libba Bray Blurb: (From Amazon):A Victorian boarding school story, a Gothic mansion mystery, a gossipy romp about a clique of girlfriends, and a dark other-worldly fantasy--jumble them all together and you have this complicated and unusual first novel. Gemma, 16, has had an unconventional upbringing in India, until the day she foresees her mother’s death in a black, swirling vision that turns out to be true. Sent back to England, she is enrolled at Spence, a girls’ academy with a mysterious burned-out East Wing. There Gemma is snubbed by powerful Felicity, beautiful Pippa, and even her own dumpy roommate Ann, until she blackmails herself and Ann into the treacherous clique. Gemma is distressed to find that she has been followed from India by Kartik, a beautiful young man who warns her to fight off the visions. Nevertheless, they continue, and one night she is led by a child-spirit to find a diary that reveals the secrets of a mystical Order. The clique soon finds a way to accompany Gemma to the other-world realms of her visions "for a bit of fun" and to taste the power they will never have as Victorian wives, but they discover that the delights of the realms are overwhelmed by a menace they cannot control. Gemma is left wi! th the knowledge that her role as the link between worlds leaves her with a mission to seek out the "others" and rebuild the Order. A Great and Terrible Beauty is an impressive first book in what should prove to be a fascinating trilogy.
Rating: (Out of 5): 5! What you thought: BRILLIANT! BLOODY BRILLIANT! Other: READ THIS! It has action, fantasy, magic, and a bit of romance. Also, there is a second book, Rebel Angels, which is EXTREMELY wicked, and then the awaited The Sweet Far Thing, will be coming out next year.

Name of book: Alyzon Whitestarr
Author: Isobelle Carmody
Blurb: Alyzon Whitestarr thinks of herself as more white mouse than star, until something happens that heightens her senses, enabling her to smell people's feelings, perceive their essences, and see flashes of their lives. She is shaken to discover that some people's spirits are afflicted by a strange and ravenous disease which is both sentient and hungry for new hosts. Seeking to learn how the disease is transmitted, Alyzon's investigations lead her to a mysterious entrepreneur, a secretive group of young people with a habit of violence, and ultimately back to her own beloved family, where she will learn a shattering truth about the world... Then Alyzon realises that, just as she can perceive the sickness, so the sickness can perceive her...
Rating: 5 out of 5!
What I thought: This book is absolutely amazing! It's a bit weird sometimes, particularly in the prologue, but that's one of the things that makes it so fantastic. You HAVE to read this. I made my friend read it after she was saying it looked too weird, and she fell in love with it too. I also think it would be a good movie.
Other: The author also wrote the Obernewtyn Chronicles, which I haven't read, but are supposedly really good.

Name of book: Sabriel Author: Garth Nix Blurb: Sabriel is the daughter of the Mage Abhorsen. Ever since she was a tiny child, she has lived outside the Wall of the Old Kingdom - far away from the uncontrolled power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who won't stay Dead. But now her father is missing and Sabriel is called upon to cross back into that world to find him. Leaving the safety of the school she has known as home, Sabriel embarks upon a quest fraught with supernatural dangers, with companions she is unsure of - for nothing is as it seems within the boundary of the Old Kingdom. There she confronts an evil that threatnes much more than her life, and comes face to face with her hidden destiny... Rating: 4.5 What I thought: A TREMENDOUS book!! A bit confusing at times and also a bit scary. I loved this book Other: First in the Old Kingdom Trilogy, followed by Lirael and Abhorsen. Winner of the 1995 Aurealis Awards for Excellence in Australian Speculative Fiction - Best Young Adult Novel and Best Fantasy Novel.
